Margaret’s Famous Story: Guided School Tours of the Margaret Mitchell House
Fifth Grade and up
9:30 AM; duration 1.5 hours
This tour is offered on Tuesdays and Thurdays only

 

Price: $6 per student
Limit: 75 students

 

Students go back in time to experience the Civil War Margaret Mitchell style! Students explore the apartment where Mitchell wrote her Pulitzer Prize-winning book and learn how the Civil War, the Roaring 1920s, and World War II relate to Margaret Mitchell's life. Students also have a chance to be a writer just like Margaret Mitchell, and enjoy other fun-filled, hands-on activities. 

 

The tour also includes a visit to the new exhibition, The Making of a Film LegendGone With the Wind, where students view artifacts from the movie, learn about the 1939 movie premiere in Atlanta, and see how the book was transformed for the silver screen.
