Literary Center

Designed to honor and preserve the legacy of Margaret Mitchell, the award-winning Literary Center at Margaret Mitchell House offers annual creative writing classes for adults and youth, and community initiatives that engage younger generations in the process of writing, reading, and reciting literature, such as Poetry Out Loud. 

• Poetry Out Loud: An innovative program for high schools, encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation of the written word.  
• Georgia Writers' Registry: Provides Georgia readers and organizations with an adjudicated directory of professional writers who are available for author readings, writing workshops, presentations, and other events.
• Summer Writing Camps:  Summer camps at the Margaret Mitchell House provide the opportunity for young people to discover the power and excitement of writing.
